Du-Rite Motors: A Trusted Name in Automotive Service Since 1959

Du-Rite Motors has been part of Boissevain's story for a long time—since 1959, in fact. It all started with George Dyck, who opened the business as a car and tractor dealership across from the Co-op Home Centre. Over the years, the company has seen its share of changes. After an explosion in 1992, Du-Rite moved to its current location. After George's passing in 2010, the shop was purchased by Marjorie Coupland, Lonnie Graham, and Jeff Hagyard, who kept it running until 2015. Then Trevor Hicks took over, and a few years later, in 2018, Jordan and Stephanie Wilkinson became the proud owners. Jordan had already been part of the team since 2011, working in the parts department, so taking the reins felt like a natural step.

Today, Du-Rite Motors is a go-to spot for automotive parts and service. They handle tires for light and heavy-duty vehicles, offer wheel alignments, oil changes, and safety inspections, and they're accredited for MPI's Winter Tire Program and glass repair. They also sell Auto Value-Piston Ring parts, all types of oil, and even Provincial Park passes, fishing and hunting licences, and ammunition. If your vehicle needs air conditioning work, they've got that covered, too. If it's about keeping your car or truck running smoothly, Du-Rite can help.

What sets Du-Rite Motors apart is its commitment to customer service. If they don't have what you need, they'll track it down and make sure you get it. That dedication has earned them a loyal following, and they say the community’s support has been incredible. In return, they give back whenever they can—whether it’s donating to the new school playground or sponsoring local hockey jerseys. As they put it, “We’re here for the community,” and their actions prove it.

Of course, running a business in a rural area comes with challenges. Sometimes freight takes longer to arrive, and finding help isn’t easy. There’s also the balancing act of setting fair shop rates. But overall, Jordan and Stephanie feel they’re in a great spot. Du-Rite has grown into a strong tire business, and they’re happy with where things are headed.

The shop employs eight full-time staff, including the owners, and they work closely with other local businesses—supplying parts and referring customers when needed. Looking ahead, their goal is simple: keep delivering top-notch service and stay open to new technology. Their advice for anyone thinking about starting a business in Boissevain? Make sure there's a need for what you're offering, and know that this is a great town to live and work in.

For Jordan and Stephanie, the greatest reward of owning a business in Boissevain is the people. The community’s loyalty and support have been the foundation of their success. That strong connection is what makes Du-Rite Motors more than just a place to buy parts or get repairs—it’s an integral part of life in Boissevain.
